Regional Supervisor application form

Remix Dance Academy is seeking energetic and motivated individuals to supervise and mentor dance instructors as Regional Supervisors at various locations on a part-time basis during evenings and weekends.

Available locations:

You will be able to choose which locations and classes are most suitable for you. Our classes are offered in Orleans, Embrun, Rockland and Hawkesbury.

Minimum qualifications:

Anyone who meets the following set of minimum criteria is encouraged to apply.

  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • At least 18 years of age with a valid SIN #.
  • Minimum High School diploma required
  • Open to Remix requesting a criminal police check.
  • Available to work evenings and/or weekends in at least one of our locations.

Experience required:

  • Dancing experience is not necessary.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Applicants with education, management, or supervisory experience will be given priority.

Duties include:

Based on agreed-to schedule with Dance Director, visit each dance location you are responsible for and complete the following items:

  • Film for 3-5 min all the groups, watch and observe, fill in a report and get feedback from instructors, students and parents.
  • Analyze instructor’s performance and provide feedback, guidance, training and encouragement in order to impact results.
  • Send reports and videos to Dance Director no less than 1 day after visit.
  • Give feedback from Dance Director back to the instructor by phone or in person
  • Track payments owed and collect money owing to hand to the Dance Director
  • Give handouts to instructors
  • Answer operational questions and issues from parents, instructors and students

Other duties include:

  • Maintain communication with Dance Director on a regular basis
  • Assist in the developing of new operations procedures and policies
  • Assist training department with new locations and ongoing training.
  • Conduct and attend regional meetings for assigned regions

Hourly wage:

$20/hour

Amount of hours:

Approximately 3 hours per location every 1-2 weeks.

Selection process:

Qualified applications will be evaluated on the basis of related experience and quality of application. The most highly qualified applicants will be invited to an interview where the following skills will be assessed:

  • Ability to Train other instructors according to RDA standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with professional and nonprofessional staff, clients and their families.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required
  • Ability to Analyze and think strategically
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic understanding of physical health.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong observational skills
  • Positive and encouraging.
  • Maintain good and positive relationships with parents, students and co-workers.

Training:

Successful candidates will be invited to take the Remix Regional Supervisor Certification Training Program given by the Dance Director. Successful completion of this certification is required to become a Regional Supervisor.

Dance Instructor
application form

Remix Dance Academy is seeking energetic and motivated dance instructors to teach HIP HOP dance classes. These will be recreational and/or competitive classes taught from September 2018 - May 2019.

The recreational classes are taught one choreography (created by the teacher - you!) in the fall and another in the winter, which students perform at the end of the year show in May. The competitive classes learn one choreography for the year, which will be performed at the end of the year show, along with selected competitions in March, April and May. Our classes are divided by age, level, and location.

Job to begin only this summer or September 2018. Must be available to teach from September 2018 to May 2019.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Available to teach September 2018 - May 2019
  • At least 15 years of age with a valid SIN #
  • At least 1 year of dancing experience at an advanced level
  • Open to Remix requesting a criminal police check
  • Available to work evenings and/or weekends in at least one of our locations
  • A genuine interest in teaching HIP HOP
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset

Experience required:

  • Dance experience is necessary.
  • Teaching experience is NOT necessary; we will train you.

Duties include:

  • Select and plan class content from warm-ups and cool downs, to choreography and dance techniques/concepts
  • Build choreography for all dance pieces taught to your assigned dance classes using the music mixes provided by the Dance Director
  • Assist Dance Director with instructor tasks at workshops, practices & performances
  • Provide and relay information between the Dance Director and the parents/students
  • Attend periodic staff meetings

Hourly wage:

$14 to $25 depending on skill and experience. Transportation costs are covered by Remix in situations where driving distances exceed 10km one-way.

Amount of hours:

Approximately 1 hour per location per class every week.

Selection process:

All applications will be reviewed and evaluated on the basis of related experience and overall quality of the application. Selected applicants will be invited to an interview where the following skills will be assessed:

  • Ability to dance, teach and perform
  • Ability to teach groups that may be small or large in number
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate basic to intermediate HIP HOP steps
  • Understanding of good physical health practices
  • Patience and respect
  • Oral communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and encouragement
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Applicants with HIP HOP dance teaching experience may be given priority

Training:

Successful candidates will be invited to take the Remix Instructor Certification Training Program given by the Dance Director. Successful completion of this certification is required to become a Remix Dance Instructor.
