Remix Dance is proud to annouce that we now have new competitve teams added in each city. We will offer competitions for ages 7 and up. Students must attend the Competitive Auditions in order to be selected for one of the crews. We hope you will join us once again this year or come try out if it's your first time.

For those with a competitive spirit, the competition crews are fun, builds team spirit and comradery among the dancers, and adds a new dimension to each dancer's repertoire. Competition dancers also get the opportunity to perform more than once a year, helping to develop their confidence as a dancer and their performance quality. The team will be formed by audition only.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

All dancers interested in registering for elite/competitive dance crews will participate in a tryout process at the beginning of September prior to registrations. See our calendar for Competitive Audition dates and locations.

COMPETITIVE TRYOUT CRITERIA

The following general evaluation criteria will be used for the purpose of selecting dancers for a crew within each division and age group.

Experience	minimum of 1 year dancing with Remix, already danced in a competitive team with Remix or other
Performance	practice performances, commitment, dedication to training and the art of dance
Technical Ability	dancing skills, performance quality, ability to learn choreography
Availability	must be willing to attend 2 dance competitions scheduled by Remix
Other	leadership, desire, heart, passion, mental toughness, etc.

COMPETITION INFORMATION

All dancers will participate in all competitions for their age and skill level. Competition dates are posted well in advance to avoid any conflicts. The Competitive Teams will compete in 2 regional competitions . All dancers will perform one routine per competition.

PARTICIPATION

Participation in the competition team is voluntary but by audition only. If a dancer chooses to join the team, they have to decide, along with their guardians, to be 100% committed to the rules of the competition team. Attendance is mandatory throughout the year for competition classes. Competition dancers may miss no more than 3 classes from September-May, and if they miss more than 1 during competition season (February-May) they are not allowed to perform in that competition, even though it will have been paid for. Serious illness, injury or tragedy are, of course, exceptions.

COMPETITION SEASON

Competitions are during weekends beginning in February and continuing through May. Competition fees run about $35 per dancer if they are in a group and solos and duets are more expensive. The competition team members will be competing in 2 local competitions this year. There are no refunds for competition fees. Rehearsals may increase during this "competition season." If so, we will create a schedule to go out over winter break to allow you to schedule appropriately. Absence is not acceptable. The absence policy becomes more lenient as competitions are over, however, we do expect that you will continue to attend class regularly and uphold your commitment to the team. The dance created for and performed in competition will also be performed in our year end show.

Although the commitment to the team is a big one, it is a wonderful way to build self-esteem, a sense of stability and discipline, and improve dance and performance skills. In addition, the team will have the opportunity to win awards and placement on the regional and national level. We look forward to a successful competition season!
